Our Journey

We started as a project run by Northern Heartlands which was an outstanding success over the 2 years of funding. In order to continue, we became independent and rebranded as Bishop Busy Hands in November 2024. Today, we are going strong with a growing membership and have plans for expansion by running more groups in the area, including one at the weekend. This will help us to make a difference for more people in our community.

The impact we make in our community

We are a friendly, welcoming group in Bishop Auckland where adults come together to get creative, try new crafts, and enjoy each other’s company. We help people to feel less alone, boost their mood, and give them something to look forward to. Whether you're painting, making things with clay, or just chatting over a cup of tea, Bishop Busy Hands makes everyone feel included and valued. We are more than a craft group — We're a creative space where people support each other, make friends, and help build a stronger, happier community.

Our Sessions

Being part of our group is being part of something special! Bishop Busy Hands offers weekly creative wellbeing sessions every Thursday from 1pm to 3pm at Bishop Auckland Town Hall — and we’re growing, with plans to add more sessions at a new location soon. Each session is packed with hands-on, relaxing crafts like air-dry clay, resin art, painting, collage, journaling, and sensory activities designed to suit all abilities. We also explore seasonal themes and personal projects, giving everyone the chance to create something meaningful. Whether you're a seasoned maker or just curious to try something new, you’ll find a welcoming space to connect, make friends, and enjoy some time for yourself.
